Vlasta Kelemen and Irene Kunhegyi


Long time friends and painting partners of very talented Joan Redford-Brown of Meaford, the trio is reunited at Eclektika. Often sharing the subject of their works and evidently influencing each other with their critical eye, the three ladies each have their own distinctive style.


Vlasta grew up in Zagreb, Croatia during World War II, immigrating to Canada in 1968. Her earliest recollection of mountains, flower-laden meadows, roaring Mediterranean waves formed Vlasta's balance of colour, rhythm and sense of proportion.


Irene was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1957, following the revolution in her homeland. She says the artistic gene must have been strong as she has two diversely artistic children - one a guitar player, the other an Olympic figure skater.

Know the name? Bonnie has been in the area for a while. You might have seen her photography in Craigleith or in Our Homes magazine. She has been with the Eclektika family since last summer. She just brought us this wonderful "Birch Trees" piece that almost looks like a painting!
